Enough Is Enough 2006: A Year in Review
The following highlights EIE's accomplishments in 2006. EIE continues to foc
us its efforts by educating the public on Internet safety, advising the technology industry, and working closely with the legal community.
Public -Education
- EIE developed and launched Enough.org, our corporate website.
- Dateline NBC's To Catch a Predator series: EIE president Donna Rice Hughes responded to numerous questions posed by parents that resulted after the broadcast of the popular series. Plus, an EIE staff member and his family taped a segment providing additional Internet safety practices in their home.
- Virginia PTA announces partnership with EIE in the development and implementation of an Internet Safety 101: Empowering Parents program in Virginia
- American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC): Developed an Internet safety training video, featuring Donna Rice Hughes, and workbook directed toward parents for AACC's "Parenting Kids God's Way" video teaching series.
- Designed and developed the Parent Pledge and Buddy Check program to encourage the adoption of Rules 'N Tools® guidelines and expand awareness of Internet safety threats.
- EIE provided interviews to numerous media outlets including NBC Nightly News, CNN, the O'Reilly Factor, Scarborough Country, the Today Show, The New York Times and Time Magazine.
- Developed a series of radio PSA's with Rules 'N Tools® tips of the week. Current radio partnerships include WAVA and WMAL Radio
- EIE provided Rules 'N Tools® parent empowerment training, educated parents, educators, media, churches, policy makers, and law enforcement in communities across the country in 2006 including:
- The Maryland Coalition Against Pornography
- The Antelope Valley Kiwanis Clubs (Lancaster, CA)
- City of Santa Clarita, California
- EIE conducted in-depth exploration of social networking sites and issues in order to formulate EIE's position, advise the technology industry, and provide materials for Rules 'N Tools® networking safety tips.
- Provided advice and guidance to the "Help Keep Kids Connected and Protected" national awareness campaign partnership organized by the National Cyber Security Alliance.
- EIE president invited to serve on the McGruff "Take a Bite out of Cyber Crime" advisory board
In 2006, EIE continued to build upon partnerships to include industry, faith-based organizations, not-for-profit groups, and government agencies which are dedicated to addressing Internet-specific child safety issues, sharing and leveraging resources, and presenting a united front on key issues.
Department of Justice - *Enough Is Enough® continues to work in partnership with Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) at the Department of Justice, using grant funds to launch and implement Internet Safety 101: Empowering Parents progam

Industry
- EIE president served as an advisor to MySpace.com
- Established ongoing dialogue with representatives from social networking sites, including MySpace, FaceBook, IM Star, and RuleSpace, to share safety tips, promote use of expanded safeguards, and explore possible partnership opportunities.
- EIE president accepted invitation from NCMEC to serve as member of the National Dialogue of Social Networking Steering Committee, and served as panelist at first National Dialogue meeting in Washington DC.
Legal: Legislation & Enforcement
- Virginia Attorney General Task Force (2006)--EIE President Donna Rice Hughes becomes a member of the Youth Internet Safety Task Force at the invitation of Virginia Attorney General Bob McDonnell.
- Attended several national policy forums and meetings with influential legislators, policy groups, and law enforcement officials, including Senator Sam Brownback (R-KS), Senator John McCain (R-AZ),Virginia State Attorney General Bob McDonnell, Council for National Policy, Congressional Internet Caucus, and the National Dialogue on Social Network. Provided briefings on Internet safety awareness and Rules 'N Tools® and initiated partnership discussions.
