UT Passes Resolution, Identity Theft, and Donna at WiFiNow 2016

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  It is hard to believe we are already midway through March! I am writing to share with you some important news and updates on keeping our children safe online.

Utah House Passes Anti-Pornography Resolution

Great news from Utah! The Utah House recently passed a resolution declaring pornography a public health crisis. Now, this historic resolution is headed to Governor Gary Herbert's desk to be signed, for the protection of children, families from the damaging effects of pornography. Hopefully, this bold action from Utah's elected officials will inspire other state legislatures to be bold and pass similar resolutions.

Identity Theft
The White House has declared identity theft as the fastest growing crime in America. Identity theft can happen to anyone at any age, and it is of the utmost urgency to protect yourself and your loved ones from falling victim to this crime. The Federal Trade Commission has created a one stop shop resource at its updated IdentityTheft.gov for tips on how to protect yourself from identity theft, in addition to reporting the crime and restoring your identity with a personal recovery plan if you fall victim.

Have you been Phished lately? I have, almost every day in fact. Phishing is a type of online fraud in which someone tries to trick the user into revealing valuable personal information. Please watch this short video with key tips to help keep you safe from phishing online.

Upcoming Events - WiFiNow 2016 and Set Free Summit

April is going to be a busy month! I will be speaking at two wonderful events on protecting children online. I hope to see you at these amazing events, where you will hear tips on how to keep your children safe online and protected from the dangers of pornography.

On April 7-9, 2016, I will be speaking at my friend and EIE Advisory Board member, Josh McDowell's Set Free Summit in Greensboro, N.C. on the topic of "Parenting in a Dirty World." I will be speaking with Dr. Doug Weiss, and we will be looking at how to protect children from viewing pornography. Please spread the word and join us. The Set Free Summit is the most comprehensive conference for Christian leaders about online pornography.

On April 19, 2016, I will also be speaking at WiFiNow USA in Tysons Corner on the topic of making public Wi-Fi safe in the U.S. Folks, it's all about WiFi these days. Technology is always evolving and WiFi is the primary means by which we connect when mobile.
