EIE issued a strong response to the newly filed lawsuit by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton against Roblox, emphasizing that the legal action must prompt the platform to urgently enhance child-safety protections. Roblox has been accused of “flagrantly ignoring” state and federal safety laws while continuing to market itself as safe for kids. Both the recent public confirmation of severe safety lapses—including grooming, pornography and violent content—and EIE’s call for faster corporate and congressional action (via passage of the Kids Online Safety Act or KOSA) underscore the urgent need for reform to protect minors online. See EIE's statement here

EIE is also warning parents about an online gang known as “764” that is targeting children—mostly ages 10-17—across social media, gaming platforms (like Roblox and Discord), and mobile apps. According to the FBI, the group coerces victims into sexual activity, self-harm, and violent acts, and extorts them by demanding compromising material, which is then used to blackmail and even broadcast in real time. EIE applauds federal law-enforcement efforts, but emphasizes that the first line of defense is parents being aware—and that comprehensive legislation such as KOSA is essential to hold tech platforms to a “duty of care” in protecting minors online. See EIE's statement here
