Enough Is Enough® joins International Forum to end 21st Century Slavery - The Evil of Human Trafficking

Washington, D.C.- July 23, 2020 -- Voices Against Trafficking announces an international human rights forum which will live stream via Facebook/VoicesAgainstTrafficking on July 29, 2020 11:00 am - 3:00 pm EDT (UTC-4).

Human trafficking is the world’s fastest growing multibillion dollar criminal industry. This vast transnational criminal enterprise is the greatest exploitation of men, women and children in the world. It is slavery.

Leading national and international human rights activists will share details on many aspects of the current state of human trafficking. Voices Against Trafficking speaks for those who cannot speak for themselves. They are the ones whose rights have been absolutely denied.

Enough Is Enough® (EIE) President Donna Rice Hughes will share the links between the unregulated hard-core porn, child pornography and sex trafficking and the pivotal role the Internet plays in these insidious multi-billion dollar industries. Dr. Jill Manning, a licensed marriage and family therapist and member of Enough Is Enough®'s board of directors, will provide an overview on betrayal trauma, its common causes and associated symptoms. EIE is a charter member of Voices Against Trafficking.

In 2018, over half (51.6%) of the criminal human trafficking cases active in the U.S. were sex trafficking cases involving only children, according to the 2018 Federal Human Trafficking Report.

"Today's online pornography, most of which is prosecutable under federal obscenity laws, depicts brutal torture, incest, choking, eroticized racism and teen rape themes," said Hughes. "The cycle of abuse is driven by the consumer's appetite for more extreme and deviant types of content, which fuels the desire to act out those fantasies on innocent children and vulnerable women, driving the demand for these victims to be sold commercially for sex. In turn, trafficked victims are further abused when the sex crimes against them are turned into pictures and videos, continuing the cycle. Without the aggressive prosecution of obscenity, which fuels the pandemic of child sexual abuse material and sex trafficking violations, law enforcement will not be able to truly turn back the tide of sexual exploitation in the digital world."

Additional speakers include U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine L. Chao, Congressman Pete Olson (TX), Congressman Jim Costa (CA), Congresswoman Ann Wagner (MO), Congressman Greg Walden (OR) Congressman Chip Roy (TX),Congressman Chris Smith (NJ), Senator Nancy de la Sierra (Mexico), Senator Manuel Anorve (Mexico), Bishop Marcelo Sanchez Sorondo from the Vatican, Chief Jerry Garnett/ ICE HSI, Santiago Nieto, PhD (Mexican Head of Financial Intelligence Unit), Andi Buerger, JD Founder of Voices Against Trafficking, Charter Members of V.A.T, Nonprofits, Internet Safety Leaders, Law Enforcement Experts, and Survivors who are forging a new path for human rights.
